Put on your dancing shoes, as The BIG APPLE will be on Fire for a worthy cause. Under the theme “The Responsibility Of This Generation To Our Community,” Organization of New York Mandingo Association (ONYMA) is fiercely preparing to welcome the huge number of delegates, distinguished community leaders and supporters from far and near to usher in and celebrate the new leadership on Saturday, November 24, 2018. In light of the Library Project that ONYMA is undertaking in Monrovia, Liberia, this year theme is extremely meaningful. All proceeds generated from this event will be donated to the Library Project Committee for a constrution of a morden Library in one of the most underselved communities in Monrovia, Liberia.
Many distinguished community and national leaders have confirmed their attendance and willingness to reflect on the theme and echo it when addressing the audience at this wonderful program.Due to time constrained, I am not at liberty to mention every confirmed leaders. However, it would be a travesty if there is no mention of the Honorable Keynote Speaker Mr. Amara Konneh, the Honorable Installing Officer Prof. Momo Sekou Dudu and one of the rising starts in our community and Humanitarian Ambassador Tuma Fofana. These are some of the individuals who have in their unique ways taking on the responsibility to lead, help, and advocate for unity in our community.
ONYMA Library Project Committee believes that these honorable servants understand the value of education in the rebuilding process of a post-conflict country like Liberia. The committee wishes to convey to all delegates and dignitaries that striving to build a modern public library in Monrovia is ONYMA’s way of taking on part of the responsibilities it owns to our community. On same token, we are certain that our leaders and community members will help us generate the needed funds to make this worthy cause into a reality.
